Multi-award winning Irish singer Colm Keegan is best known as one of the Principal singers with Celtic Thunder. A Dubliner born and bred, Colm may still only be in his 20s but has already achieved an extensive career to date.

As a schoolboy, Colm studied under vocal coach Ken Shellard and won several highly acclaimed awards at the Dublin Feis Ceoil singing competition. During this time he was also a lead soloist with the Palestrina Choir (under the direction of Ite O’Donovan) and a regular performer at Dublin’s National Concert Hall. Colm has performed with the Palestrina Choir in Dublin’s Pro-Cathedral, New York’s St Patrick’s Cathedral and St Peter’s Basilica in Rome where the Pope was in attendance.

From this lofty beginning, Colm went on to join the prestigious Piccolo Lasso Choir and the Habemus Chamber Choir, with whom he recorded several CDs, partook in an extensive European tour and performed as a lead soloist in Spain, Ireland, and The Czech Republic. Colm also has a great love of musical theater and has played the lead role of Sky Masterson in  “Guys and Dolls”, and has been cast in a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Pirate’s Of Penance”.

Colm won a music scholarship to attend University College Dublin, where he was conferred with an honors Degree in Music and Irish in 2011. While he was studying in UCD he was invited to join the choir of Celtic Woman for their “Songs From The Heart” CD and DVD Public Television special, and has since toured with the production in the US, Europe and Japan. He has also performed with PBS favorites “The Priests” at the O2 Arena in Dublin and alongside Irish tenor Peter Corry at the Helix, Dublin.

Colm is a very keen sportsman and plays rugby, Gaelic football and hurling. He has represented Leinster in the Junior Cup for rugby and has been on a Leinster Final winning team for Gaelic Football. In addition to these team sports Colm has also completed several triathlons. He loves travel and new experiences and has travelled widely both with his music career and with the charity Habitat for Humanity, where he has worked building houses with local communities in Ghana and Zambia.

Colm was invited to join Celtic Thunder by producer Sharon Browne in May 2012 and was delighted to join with the other principals to perform a Celtic Thunder residency at Harrah’s Resort and Casino in Atlantic City in June of 2012. He subsequently toured with the Celtic Thunder in the US and Canada fall tours in 2012 and 2013. 2014 saw Colm’s first Australia tour - Celtic Thunder Mythology, he also returned to the US with the Celtic Thunder in the Fall of 2014 for the Symphony Tour and was onboard the Celtic Thunder Cruise 2014 in November that sailed to Bahamas and the private island of Thunder Bay. Colm also traveled the US with Celtic Thunder on the Very Best Of Tour that ran in Spring 2015.

He has recently returned to his adopted home of Glasgow, where he lives with his wife (and former Celtic Thunder Cellist) Laura Durrant. Colm is currently completing his Masters Degree in Education.

With Celtic Thunder, Colm featured on a several Albums and DVDs, reaching Number 1 on the prestigious Billboard’s World Artist of the year. He has toured around some of the biggest stages across America, Canada and Australia, whilst also being invited to perform for a private audience in the Pentagon.

Colm’s career may be going from strength to strength, but he has not forgotten his former passion of teaching, establishing his very own Online Teaching website entitled CKonLine, allowing his students to learn from him all over the world.

“Between the touring, recording, perform and now teaching online, there certainly isn’t a dull day, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve been so incredibly fortunate to have such a terrific fan base and I feel it’s my duty to offer them as much of my time in return for their loyalty. Each year creates its own whirlwind of events and I’m really excited to bring you all with me on this ever-eventful journey. Hope you enjoy….”
